Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana
Background
The Faculty of Computer and Information Science was established in 1996 when the former Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was restructured into two new faculties. The roots of computer science at the University of Ljubljana date back to 1973 when Computer Science was first offered to third-year students. Since 1982 it has been organised as an independent graduate and post-graduate study.
In 2003 intermedia artists from the faculty initiated ArtNetLab, the majority of whose projects have been developed in collaboration with the faculty's Computer Vision Laboratory and the Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
International cooperation
The faculty encourages student exchange between universities in Slovenia, specifically the faculties at the University of Ljubljana, University of Primorska, and University of Maribor. For students interested in pursuing part of their studies abroad, the faculty has agreements with a range of European academic institutions within the framework of the ERASMUS/SOCRATES Programme.
